How to decode the serial number
Daikin is the world's largest HVAC manufacturer. Daikin also owns Goodman and Amana in the US. Daikin's serial number format encodes the manufacture date in the first few characters.
2000 to Present (US/International)
Daikin serial numbers vary by product line. For most US residential units, the 6th and 7th characters indicate the year and the 8th and 9th indicate the month.

Some Daikin units use a different format. Check the data plate for a separate manufacture date label — Daikin often prints the date explicitly.
Where to find the serial number
On Daikin outdoor mini-split units, the data plate is on the side or rear panel.
On indoor air handlers, the data plate is typically inside the front cover.
Many Daikin units print the manufacture date explicitly on the data plate — look for "MFG DATE" or "DATE OF MFG."
If the manufacture date is printed directly, you don't need to decode the serial number.
Expected lifespan: 15–20 years for Daikin mini-splits. Daikin is a premium brand with excellent build quality and longevity.

Daikin mini-splits typically last 15–20 years with proper maintenance. Daikin's inverter-driven compressors run more efficiently and with less stress than traditional single-speed compressors, contributing to longevity.
Yes. When Daikin prints the manufacture date explicitly on the data plate, that date is accurate and you don't need to decode the serial number.
